Model Sites and Towers

Create a site, place it on the map, and group co-located sectors into a tower.

Before you begin
  • The RF Coverage pane is open

Everything you study starts as a site. "My Sites" holds the ones you can edit; a tower groups co-located sectors under one name.

Create a site

  1. 1

On the "Sites" section header, click "New".

  2. 2

Place it: click "Pick on map" and follow the hint "Click the map to place the site", or type the Latitude and Longitude.

  3. 3

Pick a Technology preset — it fills in sensible values for that technology, and you adjust from there rather than starting from nothing.

The rest of the form is the physical description of the site: where the antenna sits, how much power it puts out, which way it points, and what kind of area it's in.

Ground or rooftop?

This one catches people out, so the form spells it out: "Rooftop: height is measured from the roof — the measured structure height at this position is added at run time."

So on a rooftop site, enter the mast height above the roof — the height you actually know. Tamaat adds the building. On a ground site, height is from the ground up.

Build a tower

Select a tower on "My Sites" and the "Tower" editor opens. When Ava Reyes models a candidate site for the "Harbourview Network Buildout", one tower carries all its bands and sectors together.

Name, position, mount, and antenna height apply to the whole tower. Below them, the "Sectors" accordion groups sectors by band — "Add sector" to add one, "Remove sector" to drop one, and each row carries that sector's own direction, power, and technology.

Try a variation

"Duplicate tower as scenario" copies the whole tower into a new one you can edit freely. Change one thing — a taller mast, a different downtilt — run both, and compare. The original is untouched.
