Editing a layer happens inside a session. Everything you save shows on the map straight away — but heatmaps, hexagon counts, and other summaries of the layer wait until you finish, so that editing stays fast.
Ending a session
When you step away from editing, the dock on the map reads "Editing paused" and offers "Resume" or "End session".
Closing the edit panel doesn't end the session — only "End session" does. Until you do, the layer's summaries stay as they were before you started.
After you end it
Give it a moment and everything catches up. In that window you might see a heatmap or hexagon view that's still showing the old numbers — your features are saved and visible, the summaries are just catching up.
A good rhythm
- Enter editing from the toolbar's "Edit" dropdown (Edit Features).
- Do a coherent batch of work — a session is a sitting, not a single feature.
- "End session" when the batch is done.
This matters most on layers with heatmap or hexagon styling, and layers feeding a published map: ending the session is what makes your edits fully visible everywhere.
