These AI Terms apply when you use Tamaat AI: the assistant in your maps, and the connection that lets your own AI tools work with your Tamaat projects. They are part of the Terms of Service. Words defined there, such as "Service" and "Your Content", mean the same here.
You do not have to use Tamaat AI. The rest of the Service works without it.
1. How Tamaat AI works
Tamaat AI answers questions about the data in the project you have open. It reads your layers, counts, filters and summarizes them, and shows the answer as text, on the map, or as a chart.
The answers are produced by large language models that other companies operate. Tamaat does not build or train these models. These are the providers we use, with the terms that govern their models:
Claude, GPT and Gemini answer your questions. When you use Tamaat credits, Jev first reads your question to choose which of them answers. Providers add and retire models. The ones available now are listed where you choose a model in your settings. You choose how the models are paid for:
- with your own account at Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, by giving us an API key; or
- with Tamaat credits.
2. Using your own provider account
If you give us an API key, we store it encrypted, use it only to call your provider for you, and never show it again to you or to anyone else in your organization. You can replace or remove it at any time.
Your provider bills you directly, at its prices. Your agreement with that provider, including its usage policy, governs what it does with what is sent. You are responsible for keeping that account in good standing and for the charges on it.
3. Tamaat credits
Credits are a prepaid balance in United States dollars. Only an owner of the organization that pays for your plan can buy them. The price of a pack and the sales tax that applies are shown before you pay.
Each question is charged to your balance. What it costs depends on how much text the model reads and writes to answer it, which providers measure in tokens, and on the rate the provider sets for that model. A short question about a small layer costs little. A long conversation or a large result costs more. The providers set those rates and can change them, and the number of tokens a question uses is decided by the model, so neither is in our control and we cannot say in advance how many questions a dollar will answer. Your balance and what you have used are shown in your account.
A pack is valid for 12 months from the day you buy it. Credits left after that expire. Credits cannot be transferred to another organization or exchanged for money, and they are refundable only where the law gives you that right or the Terms of Service say so.
If your balance runs out, the assistant stops answering until you add credits or connect your own provider account. Nothing in your workspace is lost.
4. What is sent to the model provider
To answer a question, we send the provider your question, the conversation so far, and the data needed for the answer: for example the names and types of a layer's columns, the result of a count, or the rows a query returns. We send what the question needs, not your whole project.
The providers process this in the United States. We do not send them your password, your payment details, or your API keys for other services.
When the models are called with Tamaat credits, the terms on which the providers supply them to us do not allow the providers to use what we send to train their models. When you use your own key, your agreement with the provider decides that.
5. Your content and the answers
What you put in is Your Content and stays yours. As between you and us, and to the extent the law allows, the answers the assistant produces for you are yours as well.
We do not use your questions, your conversations, your data or your answers to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not let anyone else do so on our behalf.
Models can give similar or identical answers to different people. We make no promise that an answer is unique to you, and you have no rights in answers given to others.
Your conversations are kept with your account so that the assistant can follow what you asked before. They are erased with your account.
6. What the assistant can do in your workspace
The assistant works with your permissions. It can read only what you can read, and it cannot reach another organization's data.
It does not change your project on its own. It can highlight features on the map and show a chart, and it can save a result as a new layer when you choose to save it. Anything it does at your request is your action, as if you had done it yourself.
7. Connecting your own AI tools
You can connect an AI tool you already use to your Tamaat projects. The tool signs in as you and can see only the projects you can see. You are responsible for the tool you connect, for what it does with your data once it has received it, and for the terms you have with whoever provides it.
You can also publish tools that other people's AI agents may call, using the APIs your organization has published and the keys you issue. You decide who gets a key. Calls made with a key count against your plan, and you are responsible for them.
8. Answers can be wrong
Do not use an answer as the only basis for a decision that affects a person's legal rights, health, safety, employment, credit or insurance, or for a regulatory filing or an engineering or professional sign-off. Have a qualified person review it first.
Section 12 of the Terms of Service, on maps, analysis and results, applies to everything the assistant produces.
9. What you may not do
In addition to the rules on acceptable use in the Terms of Service, you agree not to:
- use Tamaat AI in a way that breaks the usage policy of the provider whose model answers you;
- use it to produce content that is unlawful, that harasses or deceives people, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- send it information about children, or health, financial or government identity information about a person, unless we have agreed to that in writing;
- use it to identify, profile or track a person without a lawful basis;
- try to make it ignore its instructions, reveal them, or reach data you are not permitted to see;
- use its answers to build or train a model that competes with Tamaat or with the provider;
- present an answer as written or checked by a person when it was not.
10. Personal information
If the data you ask about contains information about people, that information may be sent to the model provider as part of the answer. You are responsible for having the right to use it that way. The Privacy Policy describes what we do with your own account information, and the Data Processing Addendum describes how we handle personal information in Your Content.
11. Changes to the models and to these terms
Providers change, replace and withdraw their models, and the same question may be answered differently over time. We may add or remove a provider, and we will update Section 1 and the Privacy Policy when we do. If we add a provider, nothing is sent to it unless you use the assistant after the change.
We may limit how much the assistant can be used in a period, and we may suspend it for an account that breaks these terms or puts the Service at risk.
We change these AI Terms in the way the Terms of Service describe for their own changes.
12. How these terms fit with the Terms of Service
The Terms of Service apply to Tamaat AI in full, including the disclaimer of warranties and the limits on liability. Where these AI Terms say something different about Tamaat AI, these AI Terms apply.
If you are a consumer in Quebec, Section 24 of the Terms of Service applies to these AI Terms too.
