A custom tool is a reusable flow offered on a map. It sits in Spatial analysis under "Custom tools", beside the built-in tools, and runs the same way.
Add a tool
In Spatial analysis, choose "Add custom tool". The list shows the reusable flows of your workspace. Pick one and choose "Add to map".
Flows of yours that are not ready are listed underneath, each with the one thing to fix.
Run it
Open the tool. It asks for exactly what the flow declared:
- a layer of the map for each layer input, limited to layers of a geometry that fits;
- an area, which defaults to the "Current map view";
- each setting the author chose to ask for, with its default.
Give each result a name and press "Run". The panel shows the run as it goes and you can cancel it. A layer result is added to the map when the run finishes. A table result is saved to Files.
A tool always runs the flow as it was last saved. There is no version to choose.
Look at earlier runs
"Runs" lists the tool's runs on this map: who started each one, when, how long it took, and what it returned. "Use these inputs" fills the form with what an earlier run used.
If a layer has changed since a run read it, the run is marked "Inputs changed". Run it again to get a result from the current data. The earlier result stays as it is.
You are also notified in the app when a run you started finishes.
When the flow is deleted
If the flow behind a tool is moved to the trash, the tool shows "Source in trash" and cannot run until the flow is restored. If the flow is deleted for good, the tool shows "Needs a source": choose another flow, or remove the tool. Results from earlier runs stay on the map.
What a run counts as
Each run of a custom tool is an ETL run. It counts towards your plan's monthly runs and its processing time, like a run started in ETL Builder.
