Every flow starts with a reader — the stage that brings your data onto the canvas. Open the "Input / Readers" category in the stage list and drag one onto the canvas.
Read any file with Read Data
"Read Data" handles files. Drop it on the canvas, open it, and choose where the file comes from:
- "Upload file" — upload one straight into the stage.
- "Choose from Files" — pick something you already have in Files.
- URL import — paste a link and Tamaat fetches it.
- Advanced path — type a storage path by hand.
You don't pick a format. Tamaat reads the file and works it out — spreadsheets, CSVs, GeoJSON, zipped Shapefiles, GeoPackage, Parquet, and GeoTIFF all go through the same stage. The full list is in Supported File Types.
Read from somewhere other than a file
The same category has readers for the other places data lives:
- "Dataset" — a dataset already in this project. Pick it by name.
- "PostGIS Reader" — a table from a PostGIS database. Enter the connection, schema, and table.
- "HTTP Request" and "JSON API Reader" — a web endpoint. For a JSON API, also give the path to where the records sit in the response.
- "STAC Scenes" — satellite imagery, which pairs with the raster stages.
Check the field types
Reader stages have a "Schema" tab. It shows the field types Tamaat picked up from your source, and lets you override one when the guess is wrong — a postal code read as a number, for example. Set it here and the rest of the flow follows.
A few readers can't show you sample rows until the flow has run once. Their previews fill in after your first run.
