Configure an AI Provider

Tamaat AI is bring-your-own-key: you connect a model provider with your own API key, and Tamaat uses it on your behalf. Until you do, the assistant panel reads "Tamaat AI isn't configured yet. Add a provider API key in Map settings → AI to get started."

Connect a provider

   Open Settings and go to AI & integrations → Tamaat AI. Turn on the "Enable AI" toggle.

   Pick one of the three supported providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. The guidance on the page is the whole contract: "Enter a provider API key and click Save to make it your active AI provider."

   Paste your key into the "Enter API key" field. Each provider also offers an endpoint field (for non-default API endpoints), an enabled toggle, and a model picker — choose the model you want the assistant to use.

   Click Save. The saved provider becomes your active provider, and the field state changes to "API key is configured".

Back in the Maps pane, the Tamaat AI panel shows as ready.

One active provider

You can store keys for more than one provider, but exactly one is active at a time — saving a provider's key makes it the active one. To rotate a key, use the "Enter new API key" field on that provider; the stored key is never displayed back to you.

How keys are handled

Your key is encrypted, used only to call your provider, and never shown to anyone else in the workspace. Usage is billed by your provider to your account, on their terms.
