Your data is kept in Canada. The application, its databases and your files run in data centres in Montreal and Toronto, on two cloud providers: Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. Your datasets, maps, dashboards, flows and files are stored there and nowhere else.
Published maps and dashboards are delivered to their viewers through a global network of edge locations, so a map opens quickly wherever the viewer is. What is served from those locations is what you chose to publish.
What leaves Canada, and why
Two kinds of service are outside Canada, each for one purpose:
| Service | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| The payment provider | Selling paid plans: payment, invoices and sales tax | United Kingdom, United States and other countries where it operates |
| The AI model providers | Running the assistant, only when someone in your organization uses it | United States |
Your map content does not go to either. The payment provider receives what a purchase needs; a model provider receives what a question needs, while it is being answered. Services you connect with your own key, such as a basemap or a geocoder, receive the requests you make through them under your own agreement with them.
The full list of recipients, and what each receives, is in the Privacy Policy and on the Service providers page.
Your data stays where it is
An organization lives in one deployment. Its data is not copied between the two clouds and does not move unless you ask us to move it.
Enterprise
Enterprise agreements can also place the whole installation in your own cloud account or data centre, on Kubernetes. See Self-hosted Deployment.
