Sign In With Your Organization

For members — sign in to Tamaat through your organization, link the account you already have, and know what each prompt is asking.

Before you begin
  • An invitation to the organization, or a membership in it
  • An account at your organization's identity provider

When your organization uses its own sign-in, you open its work in Tamaat with your company account. You sign in on your organization's page, not Tamaat's, and you come back signed in.

A company account alone does not let you in. You need an invitation from an Admin of the organization, or to be a member already.

Start a sign-in

There are four places to start. They all lead to the same sign-in. If you have been invited and have no Tamaat account yet, start from the invitation.

From the sign-in page. Below the password form, after "or", choose "Sign in with your organization". Enter your "Work email" and choose "Continue". If you see "Use the sign-in address your organization gave you.", use that address instead.

From the address your organization gave you. Typed in or opened from a bookmark, it takes you straight to your organization's sign-in. Opened from a link on another site, such as your company portal, Tamaat first shows your organization's name and asks "Continue to this organization’s sign-in?". Check the name, then choose "Continue".

From an invitation. Open the link in the invitation email. Under the organization's name, choose "Sign in with your organization". If the page says "This organization uses its own sign-in.", that is the only way to accept. You come back to the invitation; choose "Accept invitation".

From inside Tamaat. When you open work that belongs to an organization asking for its sign-in, a prompt titled "Sign in with your organization" names the organization. Choose "Continue". You return to the page you were on.

On an invitation, and on a published map or dashboard, a line beneath the button reads "By continuing you accept the Terms and Privacy Policy."

If you already have a Tamaat account with a password, Tamaat does not join it to your company account just because the email addresses match. You confirm it yourself, once.

  1. 1

After you sign in at your organization, Tamaat says "An account already uses" your address, and "Sign in to it to continue." Sign in with your Tamaat password.

  2. 2

"Link your accounts?" shows three things: "Your account", the "Organization", and who you are "Signed in there as". Check that all three are yours.

  3. 3

Read "Signing in with this organization will open this account." Choose "Link accounts".

From then on, signing in with your organization opens this account directly. You have ten minutes to finish linking; after that, start the sign-in again.

"Not now" leaves you signed in with your password and links nothing. You can link at your next sign-in through your organization. Your password keeps working either way, unless your organization requires single sign-on.

The first time: a code by email

If you have no Tamaat account yet, Tamaat makes one for you when you arrive with an invitation. Some organizations' sign-in does not confirm email addresses, so Tamaat checks yours once:

  1. The page reads "Check your email" and shows your organization and where the code went.
  2. Enter the six-digit "Code" from the email and choose "Continue".

The code works for ten minutes, in the browser you started in. A wrong code gets "That code is not right. Check the email and try again." If you see "This sign-in has ended. Start again.", go back and start the sign-in once more.

You are asked for a code only at this first sign-in.

If another account is signed in

If this browser is already signed in to a different Tamaat account, nothing changes and you choose: "Another account is signed in on this browser. Sign out to use your organization’s sign-in." "Sign out" lets you start again as yourself; "Stay signed in" keeps the account that was there.

Signing in again

An organization that requires single sign-on asks you to prove who you are regularly. A sign-in through your organization counts for one hour from the moment you signed in at your organization. After that you see:

"Your organization sign-in is no longer recent enough. Sign in with your organization again to continue."

Choose "Continue". Your organization may ask for your company password again. You come back to the page you were on.

"Not now" puts the prompt away. A small notice, "Sign-in needed for" with the organization's name, stays on screen with a "Sign in" button for when you are ready. Until then, that organization's work stays closed and the rest of Tamaat carries on.

"Sign in with your password"

A sign-in through one organization opens that organization's work, and only that. Your own workspace, or another organization you belong to, was never your company's to open. For those, Tamaat asks for your own Tamaat sign-in.

The prompt is titled "Sign in with your password" and names the workspace:

What you seeWhat to do
"You signed in through another organization. Enter your Tamaat password to open this one."Enter your "Password" and choose "Continue". You stay where you are.
"Your password alone cannot open this organization from this session. Sign out, then sign in with your password and your second step."Choose "Sign out and sign in again", then sign in with your password and your two-factor code.

"Switch workspace" takes you to a workspace this session can open. "Not now" puts the prompt away.

If a prompt reads "We could not find this organization’s sign-in for your account. Sign out, then choose your organization on the sign-in page.", choose "Sign out and sign in again" and start from the sign-in page.

The same rule protects your account. Changing your password or your two-factor settings needs your own sign-in: "Your organization’s sign-in opened this session, so your password alone cannot confirm this change. Sign out, then sign in with your password and your second step."

Signing out

Signing out of Tamaat ends your Tamaat session. It does not sign you out at your organization, so your next sign-in through it may not ask for your company password. To end that too, sign out at your organization.

When it does not work

Each message says what happened. Troubleshoot Single Sign-On lists them all with the next step. The two met most often:

  • "You signed in, but this account has not been invited to that organization. Ask an Admin for an invitation." Your company account is fine. An Admin of the organization needs to invite you in Tamaat. If you were invited and have no Tamaat account yet, open the link in the invitation email and sign in from there.
  • "Your organization signed you in with a different email address than the one invited. Ask for a new invitation." Ask the Admin to invite the address your organization knows you by.
